About the Role

In this role the AE generates shareholder value by using a consultative retention approach for larger or more complex small‑ and medium‑business WM customers. Responsibilities include preserving existing revenue, negotiating and updating contracts, and expanding revenue within the assigned territory. Success is measured by meeting budgeted retention goals and aligning customer needs with WM’s growth objectives. The AE serves as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts, builds long‑lasting relationships, and ensures high customer satisfaction. They align WM products and services with regulatory‑compliant solutions, negotiate agreements, and resolve escalated issues together with the Inside Sales Manager. Collaboration with the broader sales team helps identify and grow additional opportunities within the territory. The work environment is a mix of office and remote settings, with routine use of computers, phones, and copy machines. Employees are expected to utilize WM’s sales productivity tools such as Salesforce and pricing software, and perform occasional reporting and administrative tasks. • Serve as primary contact for assigned customer accounts, ensuring high satisfaction and long‑term relationships. • Align WM products and services with customer needs, propose compliant solutions, and increase account penetration through consultative selling. • Negotiate, update, and renew service agreements to maximize profit while educating customers on contract terms. • Resolve escalated customer issues in collaboration with the Inside Sales Manager. • Communicate rates, charges, incentives, and concessions within profit targets and authority levels. • Identify and grow territory opportunities, referring additional WM business as appropriate. • Accurately use Salesforce/CRM and pricing tools; prepare reports and handle administrative duties.

Required qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, plus either one year of WM experience or five years of proficient B2B account management. Candidates must demonstrate strong relationship‑building, negotiation, communication, financial acumen, time‑management, and computer skills, as well as the ability to set goals and convert cancellation requests.
