About the Role

The role involves leading detailed CAD design of high‑voltage substations and switchyards, creating general arrangement and site layout drawings, performing bus and conductor calculations, and preparing lighting, grounding, and cable‑tray designs. It also includes developing protection and control packages, coordinating with civil, structural, and transmission teams, and supporting the evolution of design standards and processes. • Lead detailed CAD design of high‑voltage substations and switchyards. • Produce general arrangement drawings, site layouts, sections, elevations, and perform bus, conductor, grounding, and lighting calculations. • Develop protection and control design packages including single‑line, three‑line, schematics, and panel layouts. • Coordinate with renewable‑energy collector, civil, structural, and transmission design teams. • Interface with engineers, designers, drafters, and project managers to meet client expectations. • Support the development and optimization of design standards, processes, and execution plans.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a diploma or bachelor’s degree in drafting or electrical design and have at least five years of experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil3D, or AutoCAD Map3D in power delivery or renewable‑energy projects. Strong CAD skills, authorization to work in Canada, excellent time‑management, communication, and teamwork abilities are required, while 3D modeling, PVcase, battery storage, and industry‑code knowledge are advantageous. • Minimum diploma or bachelor’s in drafting/electrical design; 5+ years of experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil3D, or AutoCAD Map3D. • Strong CAD proficiency with layers, blocks, XREFs, annotations, and adherence to industry drafting standards. • Authorized for full‑time work in Canada; excellent time‑management, MS Office, communication, and teamwork skills. • 3D modeling, PVcase/PVCAD, utility‑scale wind/solar, battery storage, and industry code knowledge are a plus.
