About the Role

The Operator – Heavy Equipment is responsible for the safe operation of heavy machinery at recycling centers, landfills, or transfer stations. Duties include transferring, spreading, covering, loading, and compacting waste or soil efficiently and safely. Key responsibilities include performing pre‑ and post‑operation inspections to ensure all lights, mirrors, cameras and windows are clean, and operating equipment such as forklifts, excavators, bulldozers and front‑end loaders in accordance with safety standards. The operator continuously monitors waste for unacceptable material, keeps equipment ready by cleaning tracks or wheels, performs minor servicing, documents reports, follows safety policies, and maintains a clean shop at the end of each shift.
