About the Role
The Project Engineer will support the owner by negotiating and drafting detailed change orders, reviewing contractor cost estimates against independent cost estimates, and aligning scope and quantities to develop cost analyses and negotiate final pricing. Additional duties include documenting scope changes, reviewing contractual documents to produce detailed cost estimates, evaluating contractor time impact analyses, and creating construction schedules using critical path method techniques. • Negotiate and draft detailed change orders. • Review contractor cost estimates (labor, equipment, materials) against independent cost estimates. • Align scope and quantities, perform cost analysis, and negotiate final pricing. • Document changes to scope elements such as track, pavement, utilities, bridges, stations, etc. • Develop detailed cost estimates from specifications, plans, and production rates. • Evaluate contractor time impact analysis schedules for conformity and reasonableness. • Create construction schedules using critical path method (CPM) techniques.

The role focuses on delivering infrastructure projects throughout the Twin Cities metro area. Candidates should preferably hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management and have at least seven years of relevant experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Project or Primavera (P6) is preferred, along with strong attention to detail, technical writing ability, procedural compliance, project management skills, and effective communication at all organizational levels. • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred. • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in scheduling, estimating, and change order management. • Proficiency with Microsoft Project and/or Primavera (P6) software. • Strong attention to detail and technical writing skills. • Effective communication and ability to follow procedures.
