About the Role
Mortenson is hiring an MEP Estimator II to develop project cost estimates. The role involves gathering, calculating, and compiling data, and for smaller projects, preparing a complete estimate. The Estimator will collaborate with trade partners, prepare request‑for‑proposal documents, and support the lead estimator with software input and archival work. Responsibilities also include reviewing plans, participating in meetings, and managing addendum logs and vendor information. • Create project cost estimates and perform quantity takeoffs. • Summarize material quantities and cost data. • Solicit trade partners and obtain bid estimates and time projections. • Prepare vendor proposal comparisons and estimate summary sheets. • Develop and coordinate Request for Proposal (RFP) documents and schedules. • Determine pricing options and appropriate project pricing. • Input data into estimating software and support the lead estimator. • Archive filing and gather historical cost data. • Participate in plan, estimate, and project review meetings and site investigations. • Gather permitting and regulatory information from government and private entities. • Manage addendum logs and client documentation. • Provide direction, training, and mentorship to new estimators, engineers, and interns. • Source new bidders and collect documentation for future projects.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field and have at least three years of construction operations experience. Required skills include strong mathematical ability, detail orientation, familiarity with estimating software (ISqFt, ICE/Bid2Win, OST, Bluebeam), a valid driver’s license, and a professional attitude. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship. Mortenson does not sponsor or transfer employment visas. • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Estimating, Civil/Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related experience. • Minimum three years of construction operations experience, including materials management. • Valid driver’s license. • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple project tasks. • Proficient in mathematical calculations and estimating software (ISqFt, ICE/Bid2Win, OST, Bluebeam, Google Earth). • Positive professional attitude with strong customer service skills. • Ability to interpret and apply Mortenson policies.
