About the Role
The position will engage in the full project lifecycle, focusing on sectors such as healthcare HVAC, pharmaceutical clean rooms, life‑science labs, industrial ventilation, and mixed‑use commercial facilities. Engineers in this role deliver high‑quality, high‑profile design services on both local and national projects, covering everything from concept through construction close‑out. • Review and approve HVAC design plans ensuring system efficiency, air quality, thermal comfort, energy performance, and code compliance. • Apply advanced HVAC engineering techniques to improve concept development, load calculations, system sizing, and building operations. • Design future‑ready HVAC technologies, including energy‑efficient systems, heat recovery, decarbonization, and advanced controls. • Lead design and construction administration for HVAC systems (chilled water, air handling units, utility plants, specialized ventilation) from inception to close‑out. • Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams on multiple projects, managing hours, tasks, calculations, compliance documentation, and technical analysis. • Produce data visualizations, load calculation spreadsheets, system diagrams, airflow schematics, and technical reports/presentations. • Build relationships with vendors, contractors, and design partners while upholding ethical decision‑making per WSP Code of Conduct. • Perform mechanical calculations, HVAC load analyses, system sizing, and ensure compliance and safety across projects.

What You Bring
• Hold a B.S. in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering, a Professional Engineer license, and 10+ years of HVAC design experience. • Demonstrate deep knowledge of ASHRAE standards, FGI guidelines, ventilation principles, mechanical codes, and proficiency in design/bid and design/build project workflows. • Preferred qualifications include LEED AP or WELL certification, experience with healthcare, laboratory, or clean‑room HVAC design, OSHA HAZWOPER training, and basic First Aid/CPR certification.
