About the Role
WSP is hiring a full‑time, project‑specific Environmental Construction Compliance Monitor for its Earth & Environmental Division – North Mountain EIAP. The temporary, field‑based position will be based in eastern Oregon and southwestern Idaho and focuses on ensuring that all construction activities comply with relevant permits, laws, agency regulations and industry standards throughout every phase of the project. • Conduct environmental compliance inspections for construction activities on transmission line projects. • Verify adherence to permit authorizations, laws, agency regulations, and industry standards. • Perform biological field surveys and monitor construction impacts. • Collect, document, and report field data using relevant software and tools. • Coordinate with federal and state land management agencies such as USFS and BLM. • Navigate and operate 4WD/UTV vehicles in remote, rugged terrain. • Work independently in remote locations, often under demanding schedules (60‑72+ hrs/week). • Maintain safety standards and hold certifications such as OSHA‑10 and erosion control.

What You Bring
The role requires strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and excellent written and oral communication skills. The monitor must balance field and office responsibilities, perform biological surveys and construction monitoring, and work independently in remote locations under a variety of conditions. Proficiency with 4‑wheel‑drive vehicles, navigation of difficult terrain, and the use of documentation and reporting software are essential. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in a related field such as wildlife biology, environmental science, ecology or construction management and have at least nine years of proven compliance inspection experience on transmission‑line or similar infrastructure projects. Desired qualifications include advanced off‑road vehicle operation, basic field mechanics, the ability to work 60‑72+ hours per week, and relevant safety or erosion‑control certifications. • Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, Construction Management, or related field. • 9+ years of compliance inspection and monitoring experience on transmission lines or similar infrastructure. • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills. • Ability to follow directions and complete assigned inspection tasks. • Experience with federal and state land management/resource agencies. • Basic field mechanics and vehicle recovery proficiency. • Advanced 4WD/off‑road vehicle operation skills (preferred). • Teamwork and leadership abilities (preferred). • Relevant safety and erosion control certifications (preferred).
