What You Bring
We have an opportunity for a Trainee Line Mechanic (Transmission) to join Downer’s team in Taranaki. In this role you’ll work alongside experienced Line Mechanics and Supervisors, learning to construct, maintain, and diagnose transmission network equipment. You’ll complete required training and study towards registration and a practising certificate while gaining valuable hands‑on field experience. You are motivated, reliable and keen to learn, enjoy teamwork, take safety seriously and are committed to developing your skills over time. You should have Level 1 passes in English and Maths, a current Class 1 driver’s licence with a clean record, good verbal and written communication, a positive attitude, strong work ethic and an interest in the electrical industry or a pre‑trades course. Physical fitness for manual work in outdoor and challenging conditions is also required. • Complete training and study toward registration and a practising certificate. • Hold Level 1 English and Maths passes, a clean Class 1 driver’s licence, and strong communication skills. • Demonstrate physical fitness for manual outdoor work and a positive, reliable attitude.
