About the Role
The Operator – Heavy Equipment works at Republic Services' recycling centers, landfills, or transfer stations, safely operating machinery to move, spread, cover, load, or compact waste and soil. The role focuses on efficiency and safety while handling waste or soil. Daily duties include completing pre‑ and post‑operation inspections, operating equipment such as forklifts, excavators, bulldozers, and front‑end loaders following safety standards, and continuously monitoring waste for prohibited materials. The operator also monitors equipment condition, cleans tracks or wheels as needed, performs minor servicing, and documents any issues for the maintenance shop. Accurate record‑keeping is required; the operator completes Equipment Condition Reports and other necessary documentation, reports needed repairs to supervisors, adheres to all safety policies, and ensures the shop area is clean and organized at shift end.

What You Bring
Successful candidates demonstrate strong customer service, time‑management, and follow‑through skills, act with honesty and professionalism, and consistently uphold the company’s safety standards. They must have at least two years of heavy‑equipment operation experience and one year on OSHA‑regulated sites.
