About the Role
The Production Welder operates a mig welding machine and air grinder, assembling and welding tank covers, nut guards, doors, risers/sills, production orders, switch module cubicle components, and single/three phase cubicle components. The operator checks parts against prints to ensure proper dimensions and locations, and is responsible for proper fit and appearance of finished parts according to quality specifications. In this function, the welder determines if material meets specifications, checks prints for ECOs, NCRs and the latest revisions, sets up material in positioners, jigs or fixtures, and creates simple layouts when required. They weld or stud‑weld various hardware to the part, tack weld adjusting wire feed for proper seam size, grind excess weld, and trim edges for fit and appearance. The role also includes operating cranes, electric stackers, and other mechanical assists to move, position, and unload heavy parts and assemblies, as well as using oxy‑acetylene cutting or carbon‑arc torches and maintaining the mig torch. • Operate MIG welding machine and air grinder to assemble and weld various components. • Verify parts against engineering prints for dimensions, locations, and latest revisions. • Set up material in positioners, jigs, or fixtures and create simple layouts as needed. • Perform welds and stud‑welds, tack weld adjusting wire feed, grind excess weld, and trim edges for proper fit and appearance. • Use cranes, electric stackers, and mechanical assists to move, position, and unload heavy parts. • Operate oxy‑acetylene cutting or carbon‑arc torches and maintain MIG torch components. • Ensure finished parts meet quality specifications for fit and appearance.

A high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution is required.
