About the Role

This is a maintenance, non‑per‑diem Journeyman Electrician I position. The incumbent installs, repairs, and maintains electrical wiring, conduit, equipment, and fixtures in both underground and above‑ground industrial settings, and leads less‑skilled electricians to ensure a safe work environment. • Ensure compliance with all Zachry and site‑specific safety rules, overseeing co‑workers • Follow directions from Multi‑Craft Electrician, General Foreman, Craft Superintendent, Site Superintendent, or Project Manager • Comply with Lock, Tag and Try procedures for Sweeny Refinery and related facilities, supervising co‑workers • Inspect designated work areas for hazards • Participate in and complete the Zachry Craft Advancement Program (ZCAP) for Electricians per site guidelines • Perform detailed inspections of hand and power tools to verify safety and proper operation • Use hand and power tools (conduit benders, screwdrivers, pliers, knives, hacksaws, wire strippers, drills) safely, overseeing co‑workers • Examine blueprints, sketches, diagrams, building plans, and specifications to locate circuits, outlets, load centers, panel boards, wires, conduit, and components • Carry, cut, bend, connect, and install conduit according to NFPA 70 (NEC 2014), supervising co‑workers • Pull cables and conductors through specified pathways per NFPA 70 (NEC 2014), supervising co‑workers • Modify, fabricate, and install cable trays as required per NFPA 70 (NEC 2014), supervising co‑workers • Operate testing equipment (clamp meters, ohmmeters, voltmeters, harmonics testers) to validate connections and circuit capability, supervising co‑workers • Inspect and test electrical equipment to ensure safe operation and certify functionality, supervising co‑workers • Install and maintain temporary power systems and distribution per NFPA 70 (NEC 2014), directly supervising co‑workers • Install and maintain assured equipment grounding/bonding on equipment and facilities, supervising co‑workers • Terminate wire/cable to electrical equipment (outlets, switches, breakers, control panels, distribution systems), supervising co‑workers • Observe all state and local building/electrical codes • Lead Safety Task Assessment (STA) meetings • Apply mathematics to validate operations and installations per NEC 2014 standards • Organize and manage time effectively • Provide customer‑service oriented support
