About the Role
Mortenson is seeking a Superintendent I to coordinate, plan, and supervise assistant superintendents, contractors, and craft activities in a specific discipline, while developing and enhancing customer relationships through excellent service. The role involves planning and implementing material and equipment logistics, reviewing construction documents for constructability, coordinating with design engineers, managing project schedules and site logistics, collaborating with partner superintendents, leading orientations and meetings, supervising crews, mentoring staff, tracking productivity, fostering diverse relationships, and managing safety, quality, risk, and compliance. • Plan and implement to ensure all materials, equipment, and inspections support the project schedule • Review construction and contract documents for completeness and constructability • Coordinate plans and specifications with design engineers, resolving discrepancies • Develop and manage project schedules, including three and six-week look-ahead schedules • Develop a site logistics plan and lead the utilization of Mortenson tools and equipment • Collaborate with project partner superintendents • Conduct on-site project orientations, pre-construction planning sessions, and project site meetings • Supervise project partners, craft foremen, and crews; interview, hire, transfer, and dismiss craft team members as needed • Coach and mentor assistant superintendents, craft team members, and other project team members • Ensure proper task coding of work hours on timecards, track work progress and craft productivity • Handle craft team member training and conduct career development discussions • Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels • Lead team members by example, offer effective coaching and feedback, and manage performance • Provide high-level management of safety, quality, risk, and compliance for the project and team members • Recognize and mitigate unfavorable working conditions and seek opportunities to improve processes and procedures

What You Bring
Candidates must hold an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a construction‑related field or have extensive trade experience, possess at least five years of construction management experience, hold a valid driver’s license, and demonstrate the ability to manage multiple complex projects with strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship; Mortenson does not offer visa sponsorship for this role. • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or 10 years trade experience • Minimum 5 years construction management or related experience • Current driver’s license • Ability to fulfill responsibilities for multiple, complex projects • Detail‑oriented with the ability to organize and manage multiple project tasks • Basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills • Positive and professional attitude with strong customer service skills • Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies • Active listening skills and effective communication including openness to diverse input and feedback • Ability to travel up to 100% • Knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity, inclusive behaviors, and Affirmative Action plans
