About the Role

The Heavy Equipment Operator is an entry‑level role responsible for construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical transmission systems. The position works at various locations and may require travel to another state depending on customer demands. • Perform safe new construction, maintenance, or repair of energized and de‑energized overhead work. • String overhead wire and set poles and anchors. • Assist installing transformers, lightning arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, and switchgear. • Assist in replacing transformer fuses and clearing faulted circuits. • Work with energized high‑voltage systems, maintaining safety for self and others. • Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools. • Use and maintain hand tools and personal protective equipment (PPE). • Follow directions, identify primary/secondary voltage, and recognize induced voltage. • Assist with single‑phase transformer installation and hook‑up. • Perform basic bucket rescue/escape and equipment grounding. • Check voltage on transformers, install/remove services, and inspect rubber goods and PPE. • Use flag and tag procedures, Kellum grips, and hand lines. • Identify different line‑work materials and work in inclement weather. • Properly inspect rubber goods and PPE.

What You Bring

The job regularly requires talking, hearing, standing, walking, using hands, and reaching with arms. Employees must be able to lift over 50 lb and perform rigorous physical labor under various weather conditions. • Perform rigorous physical labor and work at heights or in confined spaces. • Operate heavy equipment and understand rigging, hand lines, and lineman knots. • Minimum 2 years of experience. • Read and communicate effectively in English. • Obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) permit within 60 days (CDL preferred). • Ability to travel long distances on short notice. • Ability to work extended periods in various locations. • Lift more than 50 lb and perform physical labor. • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.
