About the Role
Interns work alongside experienced professionals on real projects that have impact, own a meaningful project, and present results to senior leaders. They also attend skill‑building workshops, executive roundtables, and network with interns nationwide, gaining experience, a strong network, and a path to future opportunities. The internship is part of WM’s Digital crew, which builds and maintains applications powering landfill and transfer‑station operations such as OTM, LSIM, NDCS, and the Fastlane POS platform. These tools enable accurate scale‑house operations, real‑time data capture, and efficient customer transactions, forming the technology backbone of field operations. • Conduct data analysis and deliver actionable insights and recommendations. • Synthesize findings and present oral or written recommendations to supervisors. • Execute functional project tasks and support process improvement initiatives. • Communicate issues and roadblocks related to responsibilities. • Split duties roughly 50% software development and 50% business analysis. • Assist with software enhancements and bug fixes.

The role operates primarily in a professional office environment, requiring standard office equipment. Interns work onsite Monday‑through Thursday at WM’s downtown Houston headquarters with a flexible work‑from‑home day on Friday, and must reside in Houston or surrounding areas.
