About the Role
Key responsibilities include creating and overseeing the consumables category strategy, executing short‑ and long‑term sourcing initiatives, and negotiating contracts with key suppliers to ensure quality, reliability, and competitiveness. The manager will build strong supplier relationships, collaborate across business functions, monitor industry trends, and lead continuous‑improvement efforts. In a leadership capacity, the manager will lead the consumables procurement team, establish process‑excellence sourcing practices, foster teamwork and cross‑functional collaboration, and provide coaching, feedback, and performance management. Emphasis is placed on superior customer service and building relationships across diverse organizational levels. • Develop and execute consumables category strategy aligned with supply chain goals. • Implement short- and long-term sourcing initiatives to meet business objectives. • Negotiate and manage contracts with key suppliers ensuring quality and competitiveness. • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and new suppliers. • Collaborate across functions to drive continuous improvement and best practices. • Conduct supplier business reviews and monitor quality, delivery, and performance. • Lead and coach the consumables procurement team, managing performance and development. • Foster teamwork and customer-focused service throughout the supply chain.

The role focuses on optimizing cost, quality, and delivery while enhancing supply chain efficiencies and maintaining supplier relationships. It also involves managing a purchasing team to ensure timely, cost‑effective delivery of materials. The position is based in Minneapolis, MN. Qualifications require a bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, construction management, or a related field, plus at least five years of experience managing categories and suppliers, preferably in consumables. Experience leading direct reports, knowledge of ERP systems such as Oracle, strong strategic thinking, negotiation, and communication skills are essential. The compensation range is $102,000 to $153,000, with higher ranges for specific locations.
