About the Role

Mortenson is seeking a Commissioning Manager II to lead project construction and contract administration activities, focusing on successful commissioning of larger, more complex assignments. The role requires independent judgment in evaluating, selecting, and adapting commissioning techniques, procedures, and criteria. The manager will review scope of work, develop commissioning specifications, plans, checklists, and tests for collection and control systems, and lead field visits and functional performance testing. They will also draft technical documents, conduct training, coordinate across disciplines, and resolve commissioning issues with contractors. • Perform technical reviews of scope of work and provide detailed comments and recommendations. • Develop commissioning specifications, plans, checklists, and tests for collection and control systems. • Lead field visits, oversee commissioning inspections and functional performance tests, and create the project’s commissioning schedule. • Draft technical documents, issue resolutions, lessons learned, meeting minutes, field reports, and final reports. • Conduct training sessions and facilitate cross‑disciplinary coordination to resolve commissioning issues with contractors. • Collaborate with the scope team and Project Manager to verify scope intent, develop relationships, and ensure alignment. • Plan and execute system tests (NETA, SCADA, controls) and verify mechanical, electrical, fire protection, and life‑safety systems. • Manage internal meetings, team performance, and risk, schedule, and safety assessments for commissioning activities.

What You Bring

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in construction, civil, architectural, mechanical or electrical engineering (or ten years equivalent field experience), and a minimum of seven years of construction management or commissioning experience, preferably with an MEP contractor. The candidate must possess expert knowledge of design, construction, start‑up, commissioning, QA/QC, relevant codes and standards, and proficiency with commissioning processes (L0‑L5) and data‑based tools such as BIM360. • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline or ten years equivalent field experience. • Minimum seven years of construction management or commissioning experience, preferably with an MEP contractor or commissioning firm. • Expert understanding of design, construction, start‑up, commissioning, turnover processes, and QA/QC practices. • Proficiency in the commissioning process (L0‑L5) and ability to map construction deliverables to commissioning deliverables. • Strong knowledge of design codes, standards, specifications, and data‑based tools such as BIM360. • Excellent communication, leadership, teamwork, problem‑solving, and client‑relationship skills.
