About the Role

As the lead BMS consultant, you will build and manage a staff, coordinate all instrumentation and controls support activities, and ensure internal and external client satisfaction. You will oversee the preparation of controls design drawings and integrated systems specifications for sectors including aviation, critical facilities, finance, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals, and may travel to project sites across the U.S. • Prepare drawings, specifications and perform system design calculations • Select equipment for building systems and write reports • Assist clients with vendor selection, leveling, and procurement of best‑of‑breed solutions • Attend project meetings and interface with clients and contractors • Coordinate with internal PICs, project managers, site leaders, and practice area leaders • Collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design teams • Manage quality control and resource allocation • Support business development and client relationship management • Oversee financial management of assigned projects • Develop and maintain up‑to‑date BMS processes and standards • Manage performance of direct team reports • Partner with leadership on hiring activities

Successful candidates must combine deep technical expertise with self‑motivation, strong relationship‑building, and effective communication skills to thrive in a fast‑paced environment. Experience in BMS, EPMS, DCIM, or SCADA system design, implementation, and operations is essential. A bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering is preferred, and at least seven years of experience in the HVAC controls industry—whether as a consultant, contractor, or engineer with design responsibilities—are required. Candidates should possess thorough knowledge of HVAC/electrical instrumentation, building control sequences, building IT infrastructure, low‑voltage technologies, lighting control, fire alarm systems, and smart‑building convergence. Additional qualifications include familiarity with building analytical software platforms and energy‑conservation analytics, strong organizational abilities, the capacity to manage multiple tasks, and effective teamwork. Professional certifications such as a PE, and active involvement with organizations like ASHRAE or CABA, are considered a plus. • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred • 7+ years experience in HVAC controls as consultant, contractor, or engineer with design responsibilities • Thorough knowledge of HVAC/electrical instrumentation design and building control sequences • Understanding of building IT infrastructure and low‑voltage technologies including lighting and fire alarm systems • Knowledge of smart building technology convergence and low‑voltage sub‑system integration for IT and OT networks • Familiarity with building analytical software platforms, rules, formulas, and dashboards for anomaly detection and energy conservation • Effective team player with ability to work independently or collaboratively • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously • Strong communication skills; recent industry publications or presentations a plus • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) credential a plus • Active involvement with ASHRAE, CABA, or similar professional organizations a plus
