About the Role

The Inspection Engineer role involves using computerized inspection technologies, including CMM and 3D scanning, to develop part patterns and programs for automated equipment. Responsibilities include validating processes, inspecting purchased and manufactured parts, preparing PPAP and First Article Inspection reports, and supporting design, manufacturing, and quality engineering through data analysis and capability assessments. Collaboration is essential; the engineer will partner with coworkers to resolve inspection program issues, provide technical assistance and training, maintain calibration of measurement equipment, and communicate across departments such as Operations, Supply, Engineering, Design, Quality, and Logistics. Additional duties include supporting other value streams at the Dayton facility and performing other related tasks as assigned. • Use CMM and 3D scanning technologies to create part patterns and programs for automated inspection. • Perform process validations and inspect purchased and manufactured products. • Partner with coworkers to identify and correct issues in inspection equipment programs. • Provide technical assistance and training to team members. • Prepare formal PPAP and First Article Inspection reports for suppliers, customers, and internal use. • Select and apply appropriate measuring tools to verify dimensional and functional requirements. • Support design, manufacturing, and quality engineering through data collection, analysis, and capability assessments. • Communicate across Operations, Supply, Engineering, Design, Quality, Customer Service, Production Planning, Logistics, and suppliers. • Lead or assist in maintaining calibration of inspection, test, and measurement equipment. • Support other value streams at the Dayton facility with inspection needs.

What You Bring

Candidates should have a bachelor's or associate degree (preferred) and at least five years of experience in quality, programming, or a related field, with strong blueprint and GD&T knowledge, proficiency in precision measurement tools, and a minimum of two years programming CMM or 3D scanning equipment. The role also requires strong attention to detail, effective communication, MS Office proficiency, adaptability to changing technologies, and a passion for continuous improvement. • Hold a bachelor's or associate degree (preferred) and at least five years of relevant experience. • Demonstrate ability to read blueprints and apply GD&T principles. • Possess at least two years of experience programming precision inspection equipment such as CMM or 3D scanners. • Show intermediate skill with inspection software and strong attention to detail. • Exhibit strong communication skills and proficiency with MS Office Suite. • Adapt quickly to changing business environments and learn new programming software as needed.
