About the Role

The Maintenance Supervisor role is based at Wheatland Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries, in Rochelle, IL. Reporting to the Department Manager, you will lead the maintenance team to ensure reliability, efficiency, and safety of all plant equipment. This hands‑on position coordinates preventive maintenance, troubleshoots machinery issues, and supports safe, efficient plant operations on a Saturday‑to‑Monday night shift (6 PM‑6 AM). You will supervise, train, and mentor technicians while actively participating in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining equipment such as mills, welders, cutting systems, and material‑handling machinery. Preventive and predictive maintenance programs will be developed and implemented to reduce downtime and extend equipment life. Safety protocols and OSHA compliance will be enforced, and emergency repairs will be coordinated promptly when breakdowns occur. You will also manage spare‑parts inventory, track maintenance records, and collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to drive continuous improvement. • Supervise, train, and mentor maintenance technicians. • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain plant machinery (mills, welders, cutting systems, material handling equipment). • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs. • Enforce OSHA and company safety protocols. • Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and coordinate emergency repairs. • Manage spare‑parts inventory and procurement. • Identify and implement improvements to boost reliability, efficiency, and cost‑effectiveness. • Maintain accurate maintenance records and compliance documentation. • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams on continuous improvement initiatives.

What You Bring

The ideal candidate has at least five years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in steel or heavy industry, and two years of supervisory experience. A strong knowledge base in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems is required, with welding or fabrication experience considered a plus. An associate degree or technical certification in industrial maintenance, mechanical engineering, or a related field is preferred, though equivalent experience will be considered. Proficiency with CMMS, Microsoft Office, and a solid understanding of OSHA safety standards are essential. • Minimum 5 years industrial maintenance experience; 2 years supervisory experience. • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems; welding/fabrication a plus. • Associate degree or technical certification in industrial maintenance or related field; CMMS and Microsoft Office proficiency.
