About the Role
• Perform semi‑skilled installation, maintenance, and repair of valves, meters, gauges, pumps, and related water/wastewater equipment. • Operate and conduct routine maintenance on trucks, digging, trenching, and other construction equipment. • Load and unload equipment, chemicals, and supplies at worksites and storage areas. • Operate medium‑size construction equipment under supervision. • Follow all safety and security policies to maintain a safe work environment. • Execute ground‑keeping and custodial duties as assigned. • Resolve routine operational problems and notify management of complex issues. • Update and close work orders, maintaining accurate documentation of activities.

What You Bring
The position involves semi‑skilled installation, maintenance, and repair of valves, meters, gauges, pumps, and related equipment used in water distribution or wastewater collection systems, employing hand and power tools. Employees operate and perform routine maintenance on trucks, digging and trenching equipment, and other machinery, load and unload equipment, chemicals, and supplies, and operate medium‑size construction equipment under supervision. Additional duties include adhering to safety policies, performing ground‑keeping and custodial tasks, reading meters, updating work order documentation, and assisting with other projects as assigned. Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED and a valid U.S. driver’s license; mechanical or electrical experience is preferred but not required. Familiarity with computers and the Microsoft Office suite, strong written and verbal communication, and excellent customer‑service skills are essential. The role demands the ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects, adapt to fast‑paced changes, and function effectively as a team player. Work conditions may involve extreme temperatures, noise, wet or humid environments, and exposure to mechanical, electrical, or gas hazards, as well as travel to various Essential Utilities sites and occasional on‑call availability. Employees must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lb and comply with all safety and security standards. • Read water and wastewater meters as needed. • Hold a high school diploma or GED and a valid U.S. driver’s license. • Possess basic mechanical or electrical knowledge (preferred) and computer proficiency with Microsoft Office. • Communicate effectively with customers and internal staff, both verbally and in writing. • Provide strong customer service and work well under pressure in a fast‑paced environment. • Demonstrate multitasking ability, adaptability to changing priorities, and teamwork.
