About the Role

The Maintenance Technician B works under the direct supervision of a Lead Technician, Maintenance Supervisor, or Maintenance Manager to perform repair and maintenance on diesel and non-diesel equipment and trucks, including chassis components, refuse bodies, control systems, hydraulics, air brakes, engines, HVAC, suspension, drivetrain and steering. The role also includes basic tire work such as replacements, rotations, and tread depth checks. Employees enjoy working on a single fleet of state-of-the-art vehicles, receive training on new technologies, and have a regular shift in a stable industry.

What You Bring

The technician maintains a working knowledge and moderate skill proficiency in vehicle components and systems, performing preventative and corrective maintenance both on-site and on the road. Responsibilities include chassis component repair, refuse body control, hydraulic and electrical systems, air and hydraulic brakes, engine work, suspension, drivetrain, steering, heating and air conditioning, as well as line-maintenance welding and fabrication. When needed, the technician provides safe road service, diagnoses malfunctions using electronic tools, completes company training programs, and performs other assigned duties. Candidates must understand work order labor time standards and have prior experience with maintenance on Classes 1-5 light/medium duty and Class 7-8 heavy-duty trucks, aircraft, or ships. ASE certifications and a commercial driver’s license are a plus, and a valid driver’s license is required. A minimum of one year of experience diagnosing and repairing gasoline and diesel equipment, or imminent graduation from an accredited automotive college, is required, along with the ability to conduct basic inspections of suspensions, steering, engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical, hydraulics, drivetrain and diesel emissions.
