About the Role

As the Aviation Facilities & Infrastructure Fire Alarm Specialist, you will coordinate multiple capital projects with engineered infrastructure and act as the project sponsor for renewal and replacement projects to ensure adequate fire alarm infrastructure to support future growth. You will provide technical support for fire alarm requirements of local, state, and federal regulatory agencies or districts, act as the center of expertise for the airport’s fire alarm systems, participate in risk analysis, and develop contingency plans for unexpected problems. You will conduct inventory, condition, and capacity assessments for fire alarm systems and lead the development of preventative maintenance programs for their operation and upkeep. You will sponsor capital projects to support comprehensive infrastructure plans, implement design vision, and coordinate with planning and capital development departments to align program schedules with system lifecycle expectancy, sustainability goals, and regulatory and aviation growth requirements. You will evaluate project design drawings for moderate‑sized capital and expense projects for conformance to standards and specifications, ensure coordination with other capital projects, approve or deny variance requests, and attend infrastructure review meetings. You will conduct construction administration for moderate‑sized capital projects, managing submittals, requests for information, site observations, construction meetings, and punch‑walk inspections. • Coordinate and sponsor renewal/replacement fire alarm capital projects. • Provide technical support to meet local, state, and federal fire alarm regulations. • Serve as fire alarm expertise center, performing risk analysis and contingency planning. • Conduct inventory, condition, and capacity assessments of fire alarm systems. • Develop and lead preventative maintenance programs for fire alarm operations. • Align project schedules with system lifecycle, sustainability goals, and regulatory requirements. • Review design drawings for compliance and coordinate with other infrastructure projects. • Approve or deny variance requests and participate in infrastructure review meetings. • Manage construction administration tasks: submittals, RFIs, site observations, meetings, and punch walks. • Apply equity principles in all work activities. • Manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. • Evaluate concepts for compliance with standards, regulations, and discipline vision.

What You Bring

Candidates need at least three years of experience in fire alarm system design, modeling, construction, testing, commissioning, or activation, and desirable certifications may include NFPA Certified Fire Alarm ITM Specialist, Certified Fire Alarm Designer, NICET Level II, or NFPA Certified Fire Protection Specialist. The role also requires applying equity principles, proficiency in fire alarm software programming, AutoCAD modeling, strong communication skills, effective project management, and the ability to evaluate concepts for compliance with standards and regulations. • Possess at least three years of experience with fire alarm system design, modeling, construction, testing, or commissioning. • Hold or pursue certifications such as NFPA CFAITMS, CFAD, NICET Level II, or NFPA Certified Fire Protection Specialist. • Proficient in fire alarm software programming, control devices, wiring, network infrastructure, and AutoCAD modeling. • Communicate complex technical details effectively in verbal, written, and presentation formats.
