About the Role
The Superintendent – Steel will oversee all on‑site steel activities for the Connecticut River Bridge, supervising structural and miscellaneous steel erection, including beams, columns, trusses, stairs, and railings. The role requires close coordination with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure timely delivery and correct installation. Responsibilities also cover site management, safety enforcement, quality assurance, and maintaining accurate schedules and documentation. The superintendent serves as the primary liaison between field crews, project management, and design teams. • Supervise erection of structural and miscellaneous steel components. • Coordinate delivery and installation of steel materials with managers, engineers, and suppliers. • Monitor labor productivity, equipment usage, and safety compliance on site. • Conduct inspections to verify quality, alignment, tolerances, and code compliance. • Develop and maintain short‑term and long‑term steel work schedules. • Enforce OSHA and company safety protocols and promote a strong safety culture. • Identify and resolve field issues such as clashes, fabrication errors, or design discrepancies. • Maintain daily reports, logs, and inspection records documenting progress and delays. • Act as liaison between field crews, project management, and design teams for steel activities.

What You Bring
Qualified candidates possess at least ten years of civil or structural construction experience focused on steel erection, including work on movable bridge projects such as bascule, swing, or lift bridges. In‑depth knowledge of structural steel systems, AISC standards, welding, bolting, and rigging practices is required. Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills are essential, along with proficiency in construction management software. OSHA 30 certification is preferred, and additional steel erection certifications are a plus. • Possess 10+ years of civil/structural construction experience with steel erection focus. • Demonstrated experience on movable bridge projects (bascule, swing, or lift). • Familiarity with AISC standards, steel erection sequencing, and rigging practices.
