About the Role
The Lead Gate Attendant/Scale Operator monitors and records waste volumes entering the post‑collection site, collects usage fees from customers, and coordinates daily activities with the Operations Clerk, Supervisor, and Manager while ensuring compliance with company policies and federal and state regulations. Key duties include reviewing special waste files, recording manifests, performing weekly radiation testing, reporting security issues, coordinating repairs, estimating staffing needs, recommending process improvements, directing and training staff, maintaining a clean scale house, assisting with paperwork, determining waste content for billing, handling payments and receipts, documenting waste entries, notifying operations of special loads, answering calls, and performing other assigned tasks. • Review and ensure accurate completion of special waste files, manifests, and inspections • Conduct weekly radiation testing and report security system issues • Estimate staffing needs, adjust work procedures, and recommend operational improvements • Direct and train Gate Attendant/Scale Operator staff, ensuring clean and stocked scale houses • Process waste loads, determine billing, collect payments, and balance daily receipts • Document waste entries using scales and computer systems, and notify operations of special loads • Provide telephone support and maintain work area cleanliness • Adhere to company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
