About the Role

The carpenter designs, constructs, erects, installs, and repairs wood, plywood, and wallboard structures using pneumatic and electric tools. They fasten materials with nails, screws, staples, or adhesives and perform final checks for accuracy. The role requires knowledge of advanced layout, form usage, anchor bolt layout, material takeoff from drawings, and safety standards, and is performed in plant operations or construction sites. • Read and interpret blueprints and sketches; complete related reports. • Instruct laborers and other construction trade helpers. • Build and set forms, use level instruments, tie rebar, construct scaffolds, perform finish carpentry, and operate hand and power tools. • Inspect work areas and perform repairs or maintenance as needed. • Assist other craft workers when required. • Lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lb (occasionally up to 100 lb) and perform repetitive hand/arm tasks. • Climb, balance, and work on steel/wood frameworks, ladders, and scaffolds under various weather conditions. • Communicate effectively with management and follow safety policies. • Apply reading, writing, and math skills for directions, calculations, and documentation. • Make decisions, maintain attention to detail, and concentrate amid distractions.
