About the Role

The Field Engineer will support day‑to‑day operations on the Manhattan Jail project, acting as the technical liaison between office engineers and field crews. Responsibilities include providing technical assistance, quality‑control oversight, surveying support, and coordination of subcontractors to ensure work is performed safely, accurately, and on schedule. • Assist superintendent with daily field operations, work planning, and sequencing. • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and internal crews to maintain workflow and resolve conflicts. • Perform quantity takeoffs and track daily production for cost control and progress reporting. • Conduct construction layout using GPS and total station equipment; maintain control points. • Support as‑built surveys and documentation of field conditions. • Ensure work complies with plans, specifications, tolerances, and industry standards. • Monitor testing requirements (soil compaction, concrete, asphalt) and coordinate with labs. • Document quality discrepancies and support corrective actions. • Prepare daily reports, field logs, RFIs, submittals, and maintain document control. • Assist in creating work plans, method statements, and safety task analyses. • Maintain accurate as‑built drawings and redlines throughout construction. • Enforce company and project safety policies; participate in JHAs and toolbox talks. • Identify hazards and support implementation of corrective safety measures. • Track material deliveries, equipment usage, and labor allocation. • Update 3‑week and short‑interval schedules; analyze productivity trends for cost forecasting.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred). • Five or more years of experience in heavy civil construction (earthwork, structural concrete, utilities, bridges, or highways). • Proficiency with construction plans, specifications, shop drawings, and surveying equipment (GPS, total stations). • Familiarity with scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project) and construction management tools (Procore, Bluebeam, AutoCAD). • Strong Microsoft Office skills and effective communication and interpersonal abilities.

Benefits

The position offers a salary range of $120,000 to $160,000, dependent on experience, and is open only to candidates who can work in the United States without visa sponsorship. Tutor Perini Civil‑East will not consider staffing agency candidates for this role.
