Controller

About the Role

The Controller will support corporate and division financial objectives by providing analyses and recommendations, while assisting the VP of Finance and regional leaders across all financial functions. This role oversees daily accounting transactions, procedures, and financial reporting, and leads the Accounting Managers in implementing internal controls and compliance policies. Key responsibilities include developing accounting strategies, establishing operational processes, delivering accurate financial statements, managing month‑end and year‑end close cycles, coordinating annual audits, and preparing budgets and forecasts. The Controller also drives cash‑flow forecasting, enforces human‑resource policies for the accounting team, and ensures continuous professional development. • Lead the accounting team, enforce internal controls, and ensure regulatory compliance. • Develop and execute accounting, organizational, and operational strategies aligned with corporate goals. • Oversee daily accounting transactions, maintain the general ledger, and produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. • Manage month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end closing processes and coordinate annual external audits. • Prepare and consolidate budgets, forecasts, and cash‑flow projections for informed decision‑making. • Supervise recruitment, training, performance appraisal, and compensation planning for accounting personnel. • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to VP Finance and regional business leaders. • Maintain professional knowledge through continuous education, networking, and participation in industry organizations. • Participate in an RRSP program with employer contributions starting immediately.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a university degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, along with an accounting designation, and possess at least ten years of progressive accounting, finance, and management experience. Required expertise includes deep knowledge of accounting principles and legislation, strong organizational and problem‑solving abilities, and excellent communication and leadership skills. Real‑estate experience and familiarity with US GAAP are considered assets. • Hold a university degree in Accounting or Finance with an accounting designation. • Possess a minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting, finance, and management experience. • Demonstrate expert knowledge of accounting principles, legislation, and (preferably) US GAAP. • Exhibit strong problem‑solving, organizational, communication, and leadership abilities.
