About the Role
The role involves a variety of tasks at a landfill, including containing loose refuse to prevent scattering and directing traffic as needed, all while maintaining safety and compliance with regulatory standards. Key duties include manually picking up windblown paper along the landfill perimeter, operating a tractor‑mounted vacuum to clean debris, directing truck traffic during heavy summer periods, lifting construction materials for site maintenance, and separating recyclable items such as metal, appliances, lumber, and cardboard on the tipping floor. • Manually collect windblown paper along landfill perimeter and load into bags. • Operate tractor‑mounted mobile vacuum to clean paper and debris from fences and ground. • Direct truck traffic at landfill entrance during peak periods using verbal and hand signals. • Lift and transport construction materials such as lumber, concrete bags, and hand tools for site maintenance. • Separate metal, appliances, lumber, and cardboard on the tipping floor for recycling. • Obtain required licenses and certifications as mandated by regulatory agencies. • Perform physically demanding tasks including lifting, walking, and operating equipment in outdoor conditions.
