Cyber Assurance Engineering Specialist
Implement and maintain cyber security controls across Defence ICT environments.
Job Highlights
About the Role
• Implement, configure, and maintain technical security controls across complex ICT environments to meet compliance and accreditation requirements. • Perform ICT system administration duties, including installation, configuration, patching, monitoring, and troubleshooting of servers, workstations, and virtual environments. • Manage and support networking infrastructure, including switches, routers, and firewalls, ensuring secure connectivity and performance across Defence networks. • Contribute to change management processes, including developing and reviewing change proposals, risk assessments, and implementation plans to maintain system integrity and availability. • Conduct system and security audits, vulnerability assessments, and risk analyses to identify and mitigate potential threats. • Meaningful work: Deliver critical Defence projects that protect Australia and shape its future.

What You Bring
• Cybersecurity Framework Expertise: Strong knowledge of ISM, Essential 8, and NIST SP 800-55 standards for secure system governance. • ICT Systems & Network Administration: Proven experience managing systems, implementing security controls, and handling change management processes. • Operating System Proficiency: Skilled in administering Windows Server, Linux, and macOS environments. • Virtualisation & Cloud Platforms: Hands‑on experience with VMware, Hyper‑V, and cloud services like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. • Network & Security Tools Knowledge: Deep understanding of networking protocols and tools including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and endpoint protection. • Security clearance requirement: Must hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher clearance; may need ITAR compliance.
