About the Role

The VDC Manager oversees VDC processes and activities for assigned projects, providing models, documentation, and clear project records. Responsibilities include interpreting shop drawings, supporting RFI processes, maintaining an efficient BIM workflow, collaborating with VDC Directors, and ensuring compliance with owner requirements and BIM execution plans. The role also leads the development of composite models, manages change impacts, offers BIM technical support, and implements best practices and project‑specific VDC strategies, often supervising others. In the Senior Virtual Design Construction Manager capacity, the incumbent delivers complex VDC administration across multiple projects, leads a regional VDC team, and ensures consistent BIM deliverables aligned with the national strategy. They develop and execute VDC execution plans, seek innovative improvements, manage BIM scopes, schedules, and budgets, and support VDC Directors with forecasting and resource planning. • Manages VDC processes and activities to support assigned projects. • Provides models and documents necessary to complete scope as determined with VDC/BIM leadership and project teams. • Creates and maintains clear and effective project documentation; meeting agendas, meeting minutes, and constraint logs. • Reads and interprets shop drawings, submittals, product data and incorporates all necessary items into the BIM process. • Supports operations with the RFI process for BIM related items. • Manages and maintains a productive and efficient BIM process. • Supports and collaborates with VDC Directors and Self‑Perform VDC to ensure general VDC services, deliverables, and schedules are maintained to meet project objectives. • Maintains working relationships with owners, subcontractors and project teams. • Reads and interprets owner requirements, BIM execution plans, front end scopes of work, and ensures minimum project requirements are met. • Develops composite model by assembling 3D content provided by designers and trade contractors; creates models for any content not provided. • Leads the VDC processes and standards. • Manages change process and incorporates into all project models; tracks and communicates schedule and budget impacts to operations teams. • Provides BIM technical support to internal project teams. • Participates in the development of project‑specific BIM execution plans and budgets. • Implements best practices and processes. • Leads design and project teams through VDC process on multiple large projects. • Partners with cross‑functional teams by providing model‑based support and solutions. • Implements and leads project‑specific VDC strategy to meet overall objectives and goals. • Implements BIM/field layout processes on projects (Self Perform VDC Focused). • May supervise and lead others.

What You Bring

The position requires accurate, timely work, advanced verbal and written communication, and strong MS Office and presentation skills. Candidates must solve complex problems quickly, apply Lean principles, manage teams, interpret BIM requirements, lead VDC processes, set up project‑specific technology, and build collaborative relationships. Proficiency with a range of BIM tools—including Autodesk’s suite, Trimble products, Bluebeam, and laser scanning—is essential. A bachelor’s degree in architecture, construction science, or a related field is required, though relevant experience may substitute. Candidates need at least 8 + years of construction experience, 5 + years of VDC experience, and preferably 2 + years of people and financial management experience. The role requires a valid, unrestricted driver’s license, the ability to lift up to 25 lb, and may involve travel, non‑traditional hours, and work at project sites or the office.
