About the Role
The Fire Protection Engineer role supports the Federal Business Unit’s Fire Protection Engineering Division, providing design and consulting services for government agency projects. The position involves engineering judgments, code analysis, and delivery of fire and life‑safety solutions under the guidance of the Fire Protection Engineering Manager. • Design and analyze automatic suppression, fire detection, alarm, mass notification, and smoke control systems. • Conduct fire and life‑safety code analysis, egress analysis, and fire‑resistant construction assessments per NFPA, IBC, and UFC standards. • Prepare detailed fire and life‑safety design reports and suppression/alarm drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, and related tools. • Perform site surveys, fire‑hydrant flow testing, and water‑supply analysis; identify code issues and propose solutions. • Provide peer reviews and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure code compliance of all discipline designs. • Manage internal projects and client deliverables while adhering to company procedures and safety policies.

What You Bring
Based in Pasadena, CA, the role is hybrid, with three days per week in the office and occasional overnight travel for site surveys and construction visits. It requires collaboration with a multidisciplinary design team and coordination of fire‑protection system designs across various disciplines. • Require 8+ years of fire protection engineering experience, a BS in fire protection or related field, and PE registration. • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam Revu; 5+ years with Revit and AutoCAD; experience with AutoSPRINK, HASS, AlarmCAD, CONTAM, FDS preferred. • Demonstrate strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills; ability to work independently and multitask.
