About the Role
The Planning Project Engineer oversees and executes project planning and management across multiple disciplines, supporting the Project Manager or Senior Project Engineer with tasks such as quantity collection, contract administration, scheduling, procurement, and reporting. The role requires constant interfacing with clients, engineering/design teams, subcontractors, vendors, and ongoing communication with project leadership to track status. • Oversee field office staff including engineers, document control, schedulers, procurement, and warehouse personnel. • Serve as primary client liaison and deliver required weekly and monthly contract reports. • Implement corporate and site‑specific safety plans; lead toolbox and safety meetings. • Develop quantity calculation formulas to track material installation percentages. • Create and review work plans, work packages, and site quality plans. • Manage daily labor timesheets and compile average labor rates for supervision. • Train staff on Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and ensure compliance. • Coordinate material ordering, deliveries, and maintain procurement status reports. • Perform material takeoffs, basic engineering calculations, and technical drafting to support field operations. • Direct field engineers in preparing data for submittals to customers, vendors, and regulatory agencies. • Generate and review purchase orders, subcontracts, and material buyout takeoffs. • Supervise subcontractor activities and ensure quality documentation for turn‑over. • Maintain project records: daily reports, photographs, RFIs, submittals, transmittals, and memoranda. • Track project controls such as productivity, equipment schedules, risk and opportunity logs. • Maintain and update the master project schedule and drive planning cycles (6‑week, 3‑week, 1‑week). • Produce change orders, as‑built data, and schedule of values for billing. • Assist the Project Manager with accounting, job cost, and work‑in‑progress updates. • Lead budgeting by converting estimates to standard phase codes and forecasting cash flow. • Identify cost trends (labor, material, subcontractor, equipment) and recommend corrective actions. • Act as company representative in the Project Manager’s absence and understand full contract scope. • Lead and mentor a crew of up to 100 personnel and direct field engineers or support staff. • Provide constructability and cost‑saving alternatives during design phases. • Travel extensively and relocate for 6‑12 month project assignments; meet physical demands of 12‑hour shifts, lifting up to 50 lb, and working in varied weather conditions.

What You Bring
• Possess a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field and ≥ 5 years field‑engineer experience. • Demonstrate knowledge of MIC health and safety programs and enforce safe behavior on site.

This is a travel‑intensive position that can be based anywhere in the United States, with up to 90 % travel and typical on‑site assignments of 8‑18 months. Employees receive a per‑diem, mobilization support, a company vehicle or allowance, and one extended weekend every four weeks to return home.
