About the Role

• Support assigned water and wastewater clients while upholding public health, safety, ethical standards, and GMC Core Values • Assist in developing, reviewing, and refining project scopes with consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies • Apply AutoCAD and GIS knowledge to support planning, design, and documentation • Provide technical design and engineering support for water and wastewater conveyance, treatment, and utility infrastructure • Collaborate across disciplines and offices on planning, design, and construction of water and wastewater systems • Coordinate engineering work throughout all project delivery phases • Work closely with engineers, surveyors, field personnel, inspectors, contractors, and construction teams to ensure project alignment • Guide, coordinate, and mentor junior staff, technicians, designers, and administrative personnel • Perform advanced drafting, modeling, and technical support tasks to meet project requirements • Respond to inquiries from contractors, utility staff, and regulatory agencies with clear, timely communication • Prepare and deliver technical reports, memoranda, plans, and presentations • Support continuous improvement of technical standards, design guidelines, and operational procedures • Represent the firm professionally with clients, stakeholders, and community partners • Participate in professional development, continuing education, and industry organizations

What You Bring

We are seeking a motivated Project Manager with 5+ years of experience to join our growing Columbia, SC office, where the successful candidate will support a dynamic water and wastewater engineering team and contribute to the planning, design, and permitting of municipal water, wastewater, and utility infrastructure projects. • Exercise judgment on moderately complex or non‑routine challenges under general supervision • Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering • Professional Engineer (PE) license in South Carolina • Minimum of 5 years experience with municipal water and/or wastewater projects • Strong technical knowledge and hands‑on experience in water and wastewater engineering • Experience designing water mains, booster pump stations, gravity sewer mains, lift stations, force mains, and treatment plants • Proficiency in hydraulic modeling and master planning • Ability to apply engineering principles to routine and moderately complex water/wastewater projects • Strong problem‑solving skills and technical judgment • Effective written and verbal communication for reports, memoranda, and presentations • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders
