About the Role
You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing the trucks and equipment that serve millions of customers, using modern tools and procedures on both diesel and, at some sites, CNG fleets. • Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on a wide range of vehicles. • Estimate time and material costs, adhere to Standard Labor Repair Times, and document parts usage and repair times. • Respond to emergency breakdown service calls and perform safety checks on vehicles. • Assist senior mechanics and complete repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports. • Maintain a clean, OSHA‑compliant work area and follow established safety procedures.

What You Bring
The position requires up to 90% travel within your assigned market area, with home locations at any nearby WM shop. Assignments last from one to four weeks and are performed primarily in repair and maintenance shops across the Upper Midwest. Candidates must have at least four years of relevant experience, a valid driver’s license, be over 18, and be legally eligible to work in the United States. Successful applicants must also pass a pre‑employment drug screen and physical exam. The ideal team member is collaborative, capable of working independently, enjoys varied daily challenges, and possesses strong problem‑solving skills. Work conditions involve frequent lifting, standing, and exposure to harsh environments such as dirt, noise, extreme weather, and chemicals, both inside garages and outdoors. • Minimum 4 years of diesel/CNG mechanic experience, including 6 years in diesel and CNG and waste‑industry background. • Ability to travel up to 90% within the assigned market area. • Valid driver’s license, age 18+, and eligibility to work in the United States. • Physical demands: frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, climbing; constant standing, walking, grasping; occasional sitting and balancing. • Exposure to occupational risks such as cuts, burns, toxic chemicals, and to environments with dirt, odors, noise, and extreme weather. • Team player who cares about coworkers, enjoys independent work, likes variety, and is a determined problem solver.
