About the Role

The role includes responsibilities such as assembling machines with bolts, welds, and rivets, operating cranes and forklifts, receiving and off‑loading major components, installing lubrication systems, and performing drilling, tapping, and torque/tension work on turbines, generators, compressors, and pumps. • Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures • Dismantle machines using hand tools • Move machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks • Assemble and install equipment (shafting, conveyors, tram rails) using hand and power tools • Align machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rulers, lasers, micrometers, and plumb bobs • Assemble machines with bolts, welds, and rivets, and fasten them to foundations • Operate engine lathe to grind, file, and turn parts to dimensional specs (as needed) • Set, level, and align engines, motors, generators, conveyors, elevators, monorails, train rails, and trolley beams • Install lubrication systems on all machines • Clean, repair, and adjust jacks, chainfalls, pull‑lifts, block and tackles, impact wrenches, chipping hammers, rivet guns, air drills, and specialized torque/tension equipment • Operate cranes, forklifts, hoists, lift trucks, hand and power tools, and other materials • Receive and offload major components • Install loose components for nacelle, hub, and tower preparation • Connect blades to hub • Handle taglines • Assist with main erection crane assembly and teardown • Climb ladders (average 80 m) • Drill and/or tap holes on turbines, generators, compressors, and pumps • Perform repetitive hand, arm, and leg movements

What You Bring

Mortenson is currently seeking a millwright journeyman. This position involves a variety of hands‑on tasks such as reading blueprints, dismantling and moving machinery, assembling equipment, aligning and installing components, and operating tools and heavy equipment. Qualifications require repetitive hand, arm, and leg movements and the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lb (heavier loads must be assisted). The base pay range is $36.70 per hour, and the position does not offer visa sponsorship.
