About the Role
The role supports Lead Estimators and the Preconstruction Manager in all estimating functions throughout the launch process of preconstruction. It includes value engineering, budget controls, alternative and comparative studies, constructability reviews, and Target Value Design. The incumbent ensures that estimates, bids, and Guaranteed Maximum Prices (GMPs) are complete, accurate, and supported by recent pricing data and subcontractor input. This position reports to the Preconstruction Manager or Regional Preconstruction Manager. • Collaborate with Project Preconstruction Manager and Preconstruction Manager throughout the preconstruction launch process. • Coordinate trade partner bid lists with procurement for budget pricing and bidding. • Lead review meetings with owners, architects, and engineers during the preconstruction phase. • Prepare comparison analysis to previous estimates and communicate variances to stakeholders. • Distribute current design documents for trade partner budgeting and ensure sufficient input. • Review design documents for completeness and compile requests for additional information. • Visit project sites to assess existing conditions and capture scope not covered in design documents. • Support set‑up of estimate schedule and responsibility matrix with the Preconstruction Manager. • Perform quantity take‑off, analysis, estimates, and studies for assigned trades and building systems. • Provide pricing for value engineering, alternates, options, and special studies. • Utilize BIM for quantity take‑off and visualization to support complete estimate preparation. • Prepare trade partner bid proposal forms and bid recording sheets, evaluate scope inclusion, and identify gaps or overlaps. • Ensure complete and accurate pricing within estimates or GMPs using recent data and trade partner inputs. • Participate in internal estimate review meetings to validate estimates before client delivery. • Lead coordination of operational input during estimating, bidding, and GMP processes, including GC/GR studies and site logistics. • Develop, lead, or support assembly of estimate, bid, or GMP documents required for owner submission. • Participate actively in estimate and GMP review meetings with architects, engineers, and owners, incorporating feedback into revised documents. • Take a lead or support role in Lump Sum bid processes. • Participate in hiring, onboarding, performance feedback, and appraisal processes for direct reports, utilizing talent management systems and identifying training needs.

What You Bring
Based in Houston, TX, the position is classified as experienced, salaried exempt, and requires a minimum of eight years of relevant experience. Travel may be required, and the work environment includes both office settings and occasional visits to construction sites. Physical demands involve frequent sitting, extensive computer use, occasional mobility, and the ability to lift and move up to 20 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally. The employee must comply with company safety policies while working in quiet to moderate office environments and moderate to loud construction sites. • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Construction or related field with at least eight years of experience, or equivalent combination. • Experience in project engineering, field supervision, or purchasing. • Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions, and trade practices. • Ability to read and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules. • Extensive knowledge of estimating documents and ability to provide accurate qualitative and quantitative analysis. • Conceptual ability to work with limited information and quickly understand owner/architect requirements. • Project management skills to handle competing demands and meet established deadlines. • Familiarity with procurement and operations procedures. • Supervisory or management experience. • Strong verbal and written communication skills. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and estimating software. • Willingness to travel as required.
