About the Role
Bridge Tenders at Velociti Services operate and tend bridges, canal locks, and lighthouses to allow safe marine passage on inland waterways, and may also supervise these operations; roles include drawbridge, lock, and slip‑bridge operators. Success is measured by adhering to company procedures, providing courteous openings for marine traffic, guaranteeing safe passage for vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians, promptly reporting incidents, and protecting maintenance personnel. The role requires reading and applying FDOT and U.S. Coast Guard manuals, keeping accurate logs in clear English, communicating effectively on VHF marine radio, and building respectful relationships with teammates and guests while always prioritizing safety. • Operate drawbridges, canal locks, and slip bridges to permit marine passage. • Supervise bridge and lock operations when required. • Stop automobile and pedestrian traffic and lower gates before moving bridges. • Raise drawbridges, monitor water traffic, then lower bridges and raise gates. • Maintain and guard bridge stations, monitoring waterways for boat traffic. • Keep accurate logs and records per FDOT procedures in clear English. • Communicate effectively using VHF marine radio. • Write and submit maintenance work requisitions promptly. • Ensure safety of marine, vehicle, cyclist, and pedestrian traffic. • Report all incidents, malfunctions, and accidents to the supervisor immediately. • Prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate. • Maintain a clean, orderly workspace and neat logs. • Uphold a safety‑first mindset and respect for teammates and guests.

What You Bring
Candidates must be very flexible and available for any shift, ensure safe and efficient passage for marine traffic, and follow all operational and safety protocols. Ideal candidates hold a high school diploma or GED, are 18 years or older with a valid driver’s license, demonstrate strong communication, problem‑solving, and detail‑oriented skills, and possess a positive attitude, accountability, and a commitment to customer service and company values. Physical demands include meeting a 300‑lb ladder safety rating, lifting up to 50 lb, occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, balancing, and climbing, as well as maintaining good auditory and visual acuity for inspection tasks. • Meet physical requirements: lift 50 lb, use ladders with 300 lb rating, occasional climbing, stooping, bending. • Be available for any shift (12 am–8 am, 8 am–4 pm, 4 pm–12 am) Monday through Sunday. • Possess a high school diploma/GED, be 18+ years old, and hold a valid driver’s license. • Demonstrate strong communication, problem‑solving, and attention‑to‑detail skills.

The position offers three 8‑hour shift options—12 am–8 am, 8 am–4 pm, and 4 pm–12 am—working Monday through Sunday with extremely flexible scheduling as needed by the Captain.
