About the Role
The role involves maintaining buildings in a clean and orderly condition, performing heavy cleaning duties such as cleaning floors, hallways, stairs, shampooing rugs, and washing walls and glass. Additional tasks may include tending furnace and boiler systems, routine maintenance, reporting repair needs, and clearing snow or debris from sidewalks. The employee ensures building security and safety, services restrooms, manages trash removal, and maintains floors through sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming. They follow proper chemical and equipment usage procedures, prepare cleaning solutions, strip and polish floors, notify management of major repairs, requisition supplies, clean windows and glass surfaces, and adhere to all safety and project rules while wearing required personal protective equipment. • Monitor building security and safety by locking doors after hours and checking electrical appliance use to prevent hazards. • Service, clean, and supply restrooms. • Gather and empty trash. • Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming. • Follow procedures for chemical cleaners and power equipment to avoid damage to floors and fixtures. • Mix water and detergents or acids to prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications. • Notify managers of major repairs or additions to building operating systems. • Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using appropriate cleaners, sponges, and squeegees. • Observe and comply with all safety and project rules, wearing required personal safety equipment and performing other duties as required. • Plan work and select proper tools. • Compare and see differences in the size, shape and form of lines, figures and objects.

The position works under immediate supervision, does not require independent judgment, and reports to a supervisor or manager.
