About the Role
The Construction Director for Multifamily at Cushman & Wakefield provides construction management services across an assigned region, collaborating with clients, regional property managers, business managers, vendors, and corporate and site staff on construction, structural, and renovation projects. The role reports to the Vice President and is responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of repair, renovation, and paint projects throughout the portfolio. The director oversees all phases of construction projects, ensuring regulatory compliance and proper documentation while coordinating with internal and external stakeholders. Financial oversight, including invoice and collection management, is also part of the role. • Prepare and present project proposals for existing and new clients. • Ensure compliance with state codes, EPA regulations, and lead‑based paint rules. • Obtain and manage permits and address corrective notices within authority timelines. • Collect and oversee bids for capital projects and maintain up‑to‑date project documentation. • Track invoices and collections for the construction management department. • Analyze contracts and monitor project setup and performance.

What You Bring
The successful candidate possesses extensive knowledge of renovation and property operations, understands value engineering, and demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with estimating and project management software, as well as Microsoft Word, Excel, and email systems, is required, along with solid mathematical and problem‑solving abilities. The position operates primarily in a professional office setting but requires regular travel between properties in varying weather conditions. Physical tasks may include climbing stairs, standing for extended periods, and occasional manual handling of office equipment. • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of renovation, property operations, and value engineering. • Communicate effectively in writing and verbally; proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email. • Utilize estimating and project management software; possess strong people‑management skills. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree (preferred) and 10+ years of construction experience.
