About the Role
The Senior Legal Counsel – Technology and Commercial role at WSP serves as a key strategic advisor at the crossroads of digital, technology, and indirect procurement. Reporting to the Associate General Counsel, Technology, Commercial and Data Law, the position guides global teams on IT, commercial, and data law matters while supporting the development and commercialization of digital solutions. The counsel provides risk‑aware legal guidance that enables WSP to stay at the forefront of innovation. By advising on legal risks associated with internal and client‑facing digital services and helping implement practical mitigation strategies, the role ensures compliant and competitive delivery of technology solutions. • Provide primary legal advice on IT, commercial, and data law issues. • Partner with global digital team to support design, development, and commercialization of digital solutions. • Advise on legal risks of digital services and implement risk mitigation strategies. • Draft, review, and negotiate agreements with technology partners, clients, and suppliers. • Guide indirect procurement on complex global agreements across IT and non‑IT categories. • Create and maintain standard terms, templates, playbooks, and self‑service contracting guidance. • Ensure compliance, including “compliance by design,” collaborating with procurement, IT, security, marketing, and ethics. • Contribute to contract lifecycle management tools, workflows, SOPs, and review processes. • Support corporate governance, policy development, IP protection, and training related to technology and data law.

What You Bring
• Qualified lawyer in Québec or comparable jurisdiction with at least 10 years of commercial IT law experience. • Strong drafting, analytical, and high‑stakes negotiation skills; risk‑based, pragmatic approach. • Ability to work autonomously in ambiguous environments, meet tight deadlines, and influence stakeholders. • Bilingual in English and French; capable of national‑level collaboration. • Motivated to build processes, improve operations, and enable scale through templates and tooling.
