About the Role

The Transmission Lineman B supports the Journeyman Lineman and Foreman by performing construction, maintenance, and inspection of transmission poles, power lines, and associated equipment. The role involves learning from the Lineman team, collaborating with other department personnel, and ensuring reliable electrical service to consumers. • Construct, maintain, and inspect transmission power lines. • Connect, disconnect, install, and remove electrical devices such as transformers, regulators, switches, and capacitor banks. • Route or reroute power lines around existing lines and structures. • Inspect and remove damaged power lines. • Assist with pole handling, hole digging, and pole installation or replacement. • Perform line switching or sectionalizing as directed. • Investigate consumer complaints and repair energized distribution lines. • Provide backup support for other Transmission Linemen. • Troubleshoot electrical problems on customer equipment. • Operate a bucket truck to job sites and maintain truck stock.

What You Bring

Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions and requires frequent bending, climbing, lifting up to 50 lb, and precise hand‑eye coordination. Employees must maintain clear vision, color discrimination, and the ability to judge distances while operating in physically demanding environments. • Minimum qualification: high school diploma or equivalent and 3 years of utility lineman experience. • Preferred qualification: 5+ years of lineman experience, OSHA 10 certification, and completion of a Lineman School.
