Job Highlights
About the Role
The Senior Product Development Engineer leads the technical component of New Product Development (NPD) and New Technology Development (NTD) projects from conceptualization through validation, certification, and industrialization. Early in the project the engineer defines critical‑to‑quality requirements and works cross‑functionally to develop solutions. Detailed designs are validated through design reviews with technical title holders, and the engineer maintains the repository of technical documents such as 3D models, drawings, guidelines, and certified prints. In this role you will clarify project inputs, organize technical activities, write product technical specifications, perform design and analysis using CFD and FEA, manage subcontracted engineering work, and create all necessary technical documentation. You will coordinate meetings with sourcing, manufacturing, and advanced manufacturing engineering, lead design review sessions, identify and mitigate risks, and conduct functional analysis and FMEA for new designs. Additionally, you will incorporate DF(x) principles, define design rules, deliver technical training, collaborate with the testing laboratory on prototype tests, analyze test results, support invention disclosures, and serve as a recognized expert on safety and pressure relief valves while mentoring fellow engineers. • Clarify project inputs and align stakeholders on product goals. • Organize technical activities and validate schedules against specifications. • Write Product Technical Specifications translating customer needs into technical requirements. • Perform product design, modeling, and generate calculation notes. • Conduct CFD and FEA analyses to validate designs. • Manage subcontracted engineering activities when needed. • Create and maintain all technical documents, including 3D models, 2D drawings, guidelines, and certified prints. • Coordinate technical meetings with sourcing, manufacturing, and advanced manufacturing engineering. • Lead design review sessions throughout the project lifecycle. • Identify risks and develop mitigation plans. • Complete functional analysis and associated FMEA for new designs. • Incorporate DF(x) principles and define design rules to improve processes. • Deliver technical training on new products across the company. • Collaborate with the testing laboratory to set up and interpret prototype tests. • Prepare and support invention disclosures to protect intellectual property. • Serve as a recognized expert on safety and pressure relief valves and participate in industrial committees. • Mentor and guide junior and experienced engineers, sharing lessons learned.
