About the Role

The role involves assisting in the production and modification of design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans and specifications for assigned projects. It includes research, development, calculations, design and delivery in partnership with the project team, applying engineering techniques and design criteria for projects of varying size and complexity. The position develops conceptual and detailed designs and calculations using current drawing and technical tools, programs and software, and supports successful project delivery for a diverse range of HNTB clients. Our Boston and Chelmsford, Massachusetts offices are seeking New Grad Engineers within the Structures Inspection group for Summer 2026. • Complete assigned work within schedule and allocated hours. • Support preparation and modification of project reports, plans, designs, and calculations. • Assist in preparing project quantity and cost estimates. • Provide organization and administrative support of design files for engineering teams. • Perform research, data collection, field investigations, development, and design tasks.

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering. • Demonstrate understanding of engineering principles relevant to the discipline. • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. • Understand shop drawing and submittal procedures and requirements. • Ability to perform basic engineering calculations. • Ability to read and interpret design plans. • Master's degree in Civil Engineering (preferred). • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification (preferred). • Knowledge of MicroStation and/or AutoCAD (preferred). • Strong interest in transportation and infrastructure (preferred).

Benefits

Compensation for Massachusetts ranges from $79,688.15 to $119,532.23, based on qualifications, experience and location. HNTB does not accept unsolicited resumes from recruiters; visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
