About the Role
The Vice President of Operations is a senior leader responsible for overseeing a large, diverse residential portfolio (up to 20,000 units) through direct supervision of regional vice presidents, managers and on‑site teams. The role ensures operational excellence, client satisfaction, financial performance, and team development while acting as the key liaison between field staff, clients, and executive leadership. • Oversee operational performance for up to 20,000 residential units. • Support regional leaders to meet performance goals and client expectations. • Guide budgeting, forecasting, and proforma planning to achieve financial targets. • Identify and resolve workflow, technology, and communication inefficiencies. • Mentor and develop Regional Managers and RVPs to build a high‑performing team. • Promote accountability, transparency, and collaboration across the organization. • Ensure hiring decisions support long‑term success and monitor employee retention. • Develop internal talent pipelines for future leadership roles. • Serve as primary contact for clients and ownership groups, discussing performance and strategy. • Lead property calls, client meetings, and business development activities. • Participate in RFP responses, pitches, and growth opportunities. • Align portfolio strategies with client objectives to drive improvement and growth. • Foster a customer‑first culture for employees, residents, and clients. • Maintain executive presence to build trust in service delivery. • Use data and insights to anticipate and prevent service or performance issues. • Represent the brand through industry involvement and partnerships. • Report business health, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership. • Lead data‑informed problem solving, encouraging collaboration and innovation. • Empower team members by mentoring and delegating communication and problem‑solving tasks.

What You Bring
• Adapt communication style to audience; model clear, solution‑focused dialogue. • Travel 25‑50% of the time for property visits, conferences, and training. • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience considered. • Required experience in multifamily and/or student housing operations. • Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams and manage large portfolios. • Strong financial, operational, and strategic decision‑making skills. • Professional certifications (CAM, CAPS, CPM) are a plus.
