What You Bring
The Class B Lineman Transmission is a semi‑skilled role responsible for construction, maintenance and repair of electrical transmission systems at various locations, with occasional travel out of state to meet customer demands. The lineman works safely on energized and de‑energized transmission work, strings overhead wire, sets poles and anchors, troubleshoots system problems, maintains vehicles, equipment and tools, performs rigorous physical labor, identifies primary and secondary voltages, understands grounding, phasing sticks, line clearances, wire sizes, and conducts bare‑hand work up to 44 kV and 100 kV. He is proficient in pole/tower climbing, lifting, rigging, operating wire tensioners, sideloaders, buckets, derricks, reading blueprints, setting up equipment, working at heights or confined spaces, installing/removing PPE, checking transformer voltage, clipping conductors, and performing basic bucket rescue. He also conducts pre‑job/tailgate briefings, installs/removes mechanical jumpers, inspects rubber goods and PPE, and adheres to flag‑and‑tag and minimum approach distance procedures. Candidates need a minimum of three years field experience, the ability to read and communicate in English, and must obtain a Commercial Driver’s License permit within 60 days (CDL preferred). They must be able to travel on short notice, work extended periods at various sites, lift over 50 lb, inspect PPE, and be willing to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and high‑voltage lines.
