About the Role

The Material Handler role focuses on receiving, inventorying, storing, and issuing materials while ensuring accurate tracking and control. This position also involves conducting equipment inspections ranging from power tools to safety gear. The role is designated as maintenance work with no per diem allowances. Key duties include receiving and counting stock items, unpacking deliveries, and storing them in appropriate locations until needed. The handler must notify or deliver items to the correct department, maintain continuous inventory updates, and use labeling tools such as tags or electronic devices. Cleanliness and safety are critical, requiring regular maintenance of supplies, tools, and storage areas, as well as determining optimal storage methods based on turnover and environmental factors. • Receive, count, and inventory stock items. • Unpack and store delivered goods in designated locations. • Notify or deliver items to the appropriate department upon arrival. • Maintain continuous inventory tracking and updates. • Label goods using tags, stamps, or electronic tools. • Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas for safety compliance. • Determine proper storage methods based on turnover and environmental factors. • Record usage and damage of stock and handling equipment. • Inspect stock for wear or defects and report issues. • Assist and guide fellow warehouse or storage workers. • Use hand and power tools for opening and crating materials.

What You Bring

Candidates must have at least four years of experience in an industrial construction, maintenance, or turnaround project within a warehouse or similar material handling setting. Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a TWIC card are required, along with the ability to meet all physical demands of the job. Applicants should also be comfortable following directions and working in a team environment. The role demands strong organizational skills to perform accurate counts, effective communication for reporting and coordination, and basic computer proficiency, particularly with SAP. Proficiency with hand and power tools is necessary for opening crated materials and preparing shipments. The handler must also keep records of stock usage and any damage to equipment. Essential abilities include a demonstrated industrial maintenance background, good reading comprehension, teamwork orientation, and a commitment to Zachry’s safety values. While not mandatory, additional skills such as forklift operation, inventory control, and material expediting are valued. Experience using industrial hand and power tools is advantageous but not required. • Possess 4+ years experience in industrial construction/maintenance warehouse roles. • Demonstrate knowledge of construction processes, equipment, and SAP. • Hold reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a TWIC card. • Exhibit strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
