About the Role
The Senior Legal Counsel – Technology and Commercial will serve as a strategic advisor at the intersection of digital, technology and indirect procurement. Reporting to the Associate General Counsel, Technology, Commercial and Data Law, the role guides global teams on IT, commercial and data law matters and supports the development and commercialization of digital solutions. • Serve as primary contact for IT, commercial and data law matters, delivering timely, risk‑based advice. • Partner with global digital teams to support design, development and commercialization of digital solutions. • Identify legal risks of internal and client‑facing digital services and advise on mitigation strategies. • Draft, review and negotiate agreements with technology partners, clients and suppliers, or oversee external counsel. • Provide end‑to‑end legal guidance to Indirect Procurement on complex global IT and non‑IT agreements. • Develop and maintain standard terms, templates, playbooks and guidance to enable consistent, self‑serve contracting. • Advise on compliance, including “compliance by design,” collaborating with Procurement, IT, Information Security, Marketing & Communications and Ethics. • Contribute to implementation of contract lifecycle management tools, including workflows, SOPs and review processes. • Support corporate governance, policy development, IP protection and training related to technology, commercial and data law. • Apply a risk‑based, commercial and pragmatic approach that balances protection with business enablement. • Build relationships and influence stakeholders across all business functions, communicating clearly in both English and French.

What You Bring
Candidates must be a qualified lawyer in Québec or a comparable jurisdiction, possess at least ten years of practice with a strong foundation in commercial IT law, and be bilingual in English and French. The position requires a pragmatic, risk‑based approach, excellent drafting and negotiation skills, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders while working autonomously under tight deadlines. • Hold a law qualification in Québec or a comparable jurisdiction with strong commercial IT law expertise. • Bring at least ten years of legal practice experience, focusing on technology, commercial and procurement matters. • Demonstrate strong drafting, analytical and high‑stakes negotiation capabilities. • Work effectively in ambiguous environments, self‑motivated, meeting tight deadlines with limited supervision.
