Critical Parts Lifing Engineer
Perform stress & lifing analysis for critical aerospace components supporting design and service.
Job Highlights
About the Role
As a Critical Parts Lifing Engineer (stress & lifing) you will ensure the integrity of key defence components such as discs, blisks, drums, mainline shafts and stub‑shafts. You will predict mechanical behaviour, accounting for failure mechanisms like fatigue, creep, vibration, thermal loads and corrosion. The role spans the entire design cycle from concept through service life to disposal. You will collaborate with business and external stakeholders to meet critical programme milestones that drive our Defence Combat strategy in India. Analytical assessments will support new designs and in‑service operations, while you will help improve tools, methods and processes. Planning and quality ownership will be essential to meet customer expectations. • Conduct stress and lifing analytical assessments for new designs and in‑service components. • Utilize hand calculations and advanced design‑space optimisation tools with a focus on simplicity. • Collaborate within multi‑discipline teams to ensure designs are fit for purpose. • Identify and implement improvements to analysis tools, methods and processes. • Develop analysis task plans and coordinate with stakeholders to meet quality standards. • Apply lifing methods such as LCF, HCF, damage‑tolerant, corrosion and rotor‑integrity analyses. • Use 2D/3D finite element tools (SC03, Abaqus, ANSYS, NASTRAN) for elastic, inelastic and thermal‑mechanical studies. • Communicate complex analysis results clearly to peers, senior staff, customers and regulators.
