About the Role
This role is responsible for onboarding, developing, coaching, mentoring, and performance management of all drivers and helpers. It establishes and maintains positive relationships with front‑line employees and spends the majority of the day in the field alongside them. Key duties include equipping new frontline employees with the tools, instruction, and feedback needed for daily success, meeting with them each day to ensure consistent communication, and providing timely touchpoints. The role regularly reviews best practices, focuses on employee career goals, identifies improvement opportunities, and collaborates with staff to drive continued success. Coaching conversations are practiced and refined, safety practices are modeled, and the WM Way is taught. The position conducts root‑cause investigations for injuries and incidents, ensures consistent discipline and retraining, and maintains required regulatory records such as Department of Transportation documentation. Daily audits of route‑operation paperwork—including DVIRs, driver time and attendance, and open tickets—are performed with appropriate follow‑up. Customer site visits are made to evaluate and resolve safety issues and explore service alternatives. The role operates in a mixed office and plant/field environment, routinely using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and copy machines. • Onboard, coach, mentor, and manage performance of drivers and helpers. • Provide daily tools, instruction, and feedback to new frontline employees. • Conduct regular touchpoints and meetings for consistent communication. • Review and share best practices to improve daily performance. • Support employee career development and address improvement opportunities. • Lead safety initiatives, conduct root‑cause investigations, and enforce retraining. • Maintain and audit regulatory documentation such as DVIRs and time records. • Visit customers to evaluate and resolve safety issues.

What You Bring
Required qualifications are an accredited associate’s degree (or a high school diploma with two years of relevant experience), being at least 18 years old, legal eligibility to work in the country, and a valid driver’s license. Preferred qualification is successful completion of the WM Operations Manager Trainee program. • Required: Associate’s degree (or high school diploma + 2 years experience), age 18+, legal work eligibility, valid driver’s license. • Preferred: Completion of WM Operations Manager Trainee program.
