About the Role
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead the mechanical design team through all project phases, collaborate with multidisciplinary stakeholders, ensure code compliance, and produce high‑quality deliverables that meet client and project objectives. • Lead mechanical design team from feasibility studies through project close‑out. • Write and edit mechanical specifications to match project requirements. • Review interdisciplinary documents for conflicts and resolve issues. • Select fans, pumps, and HVAC equipment using performance curves and psychrometric calculations. • Develop complex ductwork and piping sections, elevations, and flow diagrams. • Coordinate HVAC control requirements, creating control diagrams and sequences of operation. • Conduct site visits, verify conditions, and prepare field observation reports. • Facilitate code‑compliance meetings with governing agencies. • Manage workload, schedule deliverables, and conduct virtual/on‑site work sessions with owners, contractors, and other stakeholders. • Estimate project hours and produce mechanical design documents for RFPs. • Process RFIs, change proposals, and incorporate approved changes into project documents. • Collaborate with Project Manager, Regional Controller, and Director for corporate project reviews.

What You Bring
• Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering (or Architectural Engineering with mechanical focus) and PE/P.Eng license required. • Minimum 10 years experience in mechanical system design for commercial or institutional buildings. • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, MS Office, MS Project, and load/energy modeling software. • Demonstrated leadership, team coordination, and project management skills. • Excellent organizational, communication, and mentoring abilities. • Commitment to HDR’s employee‑owned, inclusive culture; local candidates preferred.
